My best friend. You were all I ever dreamed of and more. Brave, honest, loving, loyal, PERFECT.I knew you were tired, I knew your legs were beginning to trouble you, but I never knew I'd lose you so soon. The cancer came so suddenly and you were passing before my eyes. I had the worst decision of my life to make but for all you did for us and all you gave us it was all I could do. You deserved the peace and dignity to be allowed to go that day. I held you in my arms and never wanted to let you go but what keeps me going is the belief that I will be with you again one day. You were/are the finest dog I have ever known. See you again one day my friend.

My furry friend is sick; something's terribly wrong
The vet checked him over; there's nothing he can do
I'm afraid soon I'll be sending him; home to You
Please take him back home; on the wings of a dove
Into Your loving arms; up in heaven above
Take him to a meadow; where he can play and run free
Under bright sunlight; among the green grass and trees
He's been a part of my life now; for so many years
I'll miss him so much; my eyes are filling with tears
Please give me the courage; to tell him good-bye
As I know He'll watch over me; through his loving eyes
I'll never forget him; I'll see him one day
Tell him we'll meet at the Bridge; then we'll go play
I'll cherish the memories; of the time we both had

THERE IS A NEW STAR SHINING IN THE SKY TONIGHT...♥

There is an old belief that the stars shining in the night sky are the
spirits of those who have died.♥ They have shed their earthly bodies and
exchanged them for bodies made of light;♥ thousands upon thousands of our
dear departed friends all promoted to glory in the night sky.♥ There is
another saying that the brightest flame burns the shortest.♥
My friend, you were the brightest star in my own universe.♥ While I burn
on, my flame dimmed by grief and despair at your passing,♥ the stars are
watching me.♥ They are too far away for me to touch,♥ just as you have
gone somewhere I cannot follow until my own star-time comes.♥ They
cannot be held close for comfort,♥ just as I can no longer hold you
close,♥ though I held you close to comfort you in your final hours.♥ We
were together for such a short time,♥ but the stars will burn forever.♥
One day I will grow tired of this earthbound body,♥ my own star-time will
come and my spirit will soar into the sky to burn with all those friends
who have gone before me.♥ On the inky cloth of space we will be reunited
in constellations of joy.♥ Until then, my flame burns low and dim and
cold without you.♥ Through my tears I look upwards to see if you are
watching me and what do I see?♥

Tribute To A Best Friend
Sunlight streams through window pane
unto a spot on the floor....
then I remember,
it's where you used to lie,
but now you are no more.
Our feet walk down a hall of carpet,
and muted echoes sound....
then I remember,
It's where your paws would joyously abound.
A voice is heard along the road,
and up beyond the hill,
then I remember it can't be yours....
your golden voice is still.
But I'll take that vacant spot of floor
and empty muted hall
and lay them with the absent voice
and unused dish along the wall.
I'll wrap these treasured memorials
in a blanket of my love
and keep them for my best friend
until we meet above.
